Happenings

For those of you that have ever given your child nurse maid's elbow, you know the emotional pain that goes along with it. I fully believe that the parent suffers much longer than the child. On Thursday, I picked Taylie up (she didn't want me to) and she started crying. At first I thought that she was crying because I was making her move when she didn't want to, but a few minutes later, when she was still crying, I noticed her holding her arm. "Oh no," I thought. I've been riddled with guilt ever since. 5 minutes after the Doctor popped her elbow back into place, Taylie was fine. I however, days later, am still upset that I caused my child pain. I suppose it is something to learn from, as all things are. As for me, I'm just glad that Taylie is back to her old self and that she never blamed me for a second!
P.S.
Thanks for the cutestblogontheblock.blogspot.com link, Michele! It's fun to be able to add some personality to our blog.

Love the changes! I just can't commit to making my blog really cute, but that is a nice touch. Sorry about Taylie's elbow. Drew has always had sensitive elbows, but I have never popped it out-her older cousin did right before Christmas. I thought that her wrist hurt, but I was mistaken. She came back from the doctor as happy as can be that her elbow is all better. Kids are amazing and they bounce back so easy.

Hey Heather! Glad you found me...funny how blogs work that way. Don't feel bad about the nurses elbow, we had an episode with Sadie when she was 2. I took her to my dad and he popped it right back in. Plus he told me that 90% of the time when parents brought their kids into the ER with elbow/arm pain, it was just a nurses elbow (this was when he was in medical school and such). So don't beat yourself up, it happens more often than you think. It is sad, though, how much pain it can cause. Luckily the treatment is just a turn of the wrist :) Also, we're building in Santa Clara, is that where Brett and Jenny live? Sorry for the long comment....Catch ya later.

hey Heather, I think the biggest key to weight loss is counting calories, and shocking your muscles. You will have plenty of milk if you eat 1500 calories, and there is a reason the contestants on Biggest Loser look like they are in pain when they workout, because they are!!!! Every workout counts, so make it hurt! When you reach your goal, maintaining is a lot easier.:)

You got it right on, I know exactly how hard it is to avoid the snacking, it is so easy to lie to ourselves, but every single calories counts. Good job on the working out, you are awesome, I have a link to the fitness ridge blog, and their nutritionist is the best!!!! Check it out, she gives really good ideas.
